Rcmd stock10/11/2023 FIN CONSIDERATIONSįin configurations have an effect on the ways your surfboards perform. ![]() Although if you prefer to ride a looser (less hold in the waves), smaller fins would be a better option. Generally heavier surfers require larger fins to hold the waves better. Used to increase the strength of a surfboard, a stringer (normally made from wood) runs down the length of a surfboards (typically in the centre of the board from the tip of the nose to the tail).īoards built with Epoxy, Carbon Fibre and soft boards generally don’t have stringers. The nose is the tip of the surfboard, the nose can vary in shapes and size. Basically the thinner the nose the more response the board will perform, while wider noses are better for stabilization. Where the flatter rocker surfboards will be faster, although they will lack the looseness. Generally the more rocker the surfboard has the more loose (manoeuvrable) the surfboard will be. Professional surfers will tend to go for the thinner boards as they are lighter and offer better performance. The thicker boards are stronger and because there is more foam under the surfer the boards are more stable. The thickness again has a bearing on the board’s performance. Surfboard thickness is measured from the top deck to the bottom. Generally the wider the surfboard the more stable the board, while a board with smaller width maintains better speed and performance. The widest point of the surfboard is measured from rail to rail. Choosing the length of the surfboard is dependant on your size (weight, height), board type and waves conditions you wish to use the board for. The length is measured from the nose to the tail. Typically surfboards are measured in inches. THERE ARE MANY ASPECTS TO SURFBOARD SELECTION THESE ARE THE POINTS TO CONSIDER LENGTH Polyester construction will perform in all surf conditions and can be adapted to suit a wide variety of surfboard models. These boards feature a progressive flex pattern controlled by a high-grade timber stringer and feel very reliable under your feet. For years traditional polyester boards have been at the forefront of performance surfing. ![]() All polyester boards are CNC milled from the shapers files and laminated by hand using quality components such as Hexcel fiberglass, Silmar resin and Bennett foam. From flat to double overhead this is one best all-round board you can have in your quiver! Enjoy!ĬONSTRUCTION: Polyester or PU construction uses traditional materials and laminating techniques to produce a strong, reliable surfboard with high quality finishes. With a fuller nose outline, the ease of nose riding will have you hanging them with the best. PERFORMANCE: As an All-rounder it paddles amazing, trims with an accelerated speed and will turns wherever you want it to go on the wave face. Its flatter midsection creates speed and trim and the slightly rolled vee through the back half makes for ease of rail to rail transitions.īOTTOM LAYUP: 1 x 6oz cloth 1 x 6oz Fin Patch A slight lift in the nose makes those late take offs easier and also helps with amazing nose riding, while the slight lift in the tail makes for nice drive and smooth tight arcs through your turns.ĬONTOURS: Subtle yet effective, the longer deeper concave in the nose creates lift while hanging those toes over. ROCKER: With emphasis on being an all-rounder the Five Sugars has a medium rocker with a flat panel through the mid-section which makes this board paddle with ease and flows through those dead sections with minimal effort. OUTLINE: This smooth and balanced outline has a slightly pulled in tail for drive and acceleration in turns and its fuller voluptuous nose helps with extended nose riding in all sections of the wave.
